The prospering Nashville Classical Charter Elementary School is outgrowing their current building.  The head of the charter school explored rehabbing an existing warehouse off Dickerson Pike to meet growth needs. The intent of the design was to use the orthogonal footprint while adding an addition to the structure to provide the program’s required square footage. This design celebrates the transition between the existing structure and the addition with an atrium space housing the main entrance and lobby. The separation also allows for an educational garden, which is accessible from the existing and new “wings” along with the lobby.
