1601 Washington St. WV
A blighted building located at 1601 Washington St. E in Charleston, West Virginia sits within a walk-able residential urban corridor just west of the WV Capital Complex. The owners wish to renovate this project to catalyze the redevelopment of this area. After acquiring the property, the owners discovered that it was in an extreme state of disrepair due to years of deferred maintenance. The decisions to build a new building allowed greater flexibility in program and function. Working closely with the owner, and the City of Charleston we were able to approve a similar scale building in its place. A new restaurant/entertainment space would serve the local residents and hope to kick-start more urban renewal in the immediate area.
