Combining two historic houses into a new timeless design.

Concept-Driven Design

Truly exceptional hospitality spaces are born from powerful concepts. Going beyond aesthetics to create immersive environments that tell a story and connect with guests on a deeper level. Handling all aspects of a project, from initial concept to final execution, we can create a cohesive vision that resonates throughout every detail.

Developing a Strong Concept

We approach a project by first developing a compelling concept that will guide all decisions and provide a foundation for the design throughout its evolution. We begin by researching the location, history, and culture of that area if unfamiliar to us. This will help connect with the surrounding community and identify the end user. We welcome collaboration with the client, finding a shared vision, and exploring the project narrative that will anchor the design.

The Chloe, a boutique hotel we have been working on that is currently under construction is a showcase of Nashville’s past and future, an adaptive reuse project transforming two historic Craftsman-style homes into a 19-key boutique hotel and restaurant that honors its past while embracing its future. We carefully researched the buildings’ history and local architectural styles, integrating these elements into a timeless design. An additional detached new-build structure will house ten guestrooms, the restaurant’s kitchen, and a pool bar.

After carefully researching the buildings' history and local architectural styles, we’re integrating these elements into a timeless design that will foster emotional connections between guests.

Approaching Design Holistically

After establishing a concept, we take a holistic view of the full guest experience. We consider:

  • Spatial flow and programming to support the intended atmosphere
  • Materials, textures, and color palettes that reinforce the concept
  • Custom furniture and decor that tell the space’s story
  • Lighting design to establish the ambiance
  • integration of technology that considers operational functionality
  • Landscaping and outdoor spaces as extensions of the interior

By addressing these elements cohesively, we can create an immersive environment where every touchpoint supports the concept.

From Concept to Reality

Involvement with the project doesn’t end at the conceptual phase. Remaining present with every project, through every stage, is paramount to success. We consider the following touchpoints:

  • Design development and documentation
  • Coordination with engineers and specialists
  • Permitting and approval processes
  • Construction administration and site visits
  • FF&E specification and procurement
  • Installation oversight and styling

This end-to-end approach aims to faithfully realize the initial vision in the final built environment.

The Power of Concept-Driven Design

While aesthetics are important, a concept-driven design goes deeper to create meaningful, memorable spaces. By anchoring designs in rich narratives and experiences, we craft hospitality environments that forge emotional connections with guests.
